ScanRecords

Press & reuse

ScanRecords is a public, automated archive answering one question: which communication platforms scan under the EU's Chat Control — in their own documents and filings, recorded daily since 26 Jul 2026.

The facts

  • 31 platforms, 58 documents and 25 App Store privacy labels, re-fetched daily at 06:17 UTC.
  • Exactly five providers file the derogation's mandatory reports — “Google, LinkedIn, Meta, Microsoft and Yubo” (COM(2025) 740). The checker reflects precisely that.
  • Changes are published with their full before/after, independently timestamped by the Internet Archive, and preserved in a public git history nobody can quietly rewrite.
  • The EU's own scanning statistics — error ratios included — are charted on the numbers page.

Citing

Cite company pages or change pages directly — each change page carries a ready-made citation with content hashes. Statuses are observations of public statements and filings, each with its sources shown; companies can dispute them publicly under a fixed editorial policy.

Reuse

  • All generated data is CC0: scanrecords.org/data.
  • Per-company status badges you can embed, updated with the record: https://scanrecords.org/badge/<company>.svg — e.g. Signal Chat Control status badge · Meta Chat Control status badge
  • The card image: og.png · icons: icon-512.png.

Contact

Publicly, via GitHub issues — consistent with how everything else here works. The operator is a private individual; the work speaks through the record.
